Day 3 at CES with Kwikset

I capped off my time with Kwikset at CES by talking to some of their partner companies to see how they use Kwikset’s products with their product lines. On their own, the Kevo and the Smartcode Deadbolt with Home Connect will change the way you look at securing your home, but when you have a partner like ADT, then things get a bit more interesting.

ADT is a leader in home security, and a few years ago they announced their Pulse system. Pulse brings the convenience of wireless home security and automation to its customers, so you have the ability to do things like remotely look at security cameras, change the temperature of the thermostat and turn lights on and off. With the Smartcode Deadbolt with Home Connect, you are able to also remotely lock and unlock your door, receive a text message or email when the lock has been accessed, and set up specific automations based on the status of the lock. Think about it; someone comes over unexpectedly, all it takes is a few touches on your cellphone, and you’ve turned off you alarm, unlocked the door, allowed them access into your home, and locked your home back down once they’re in.

Whether or not you’re utilizing Kwikset’s locks with other products like ADT Pulse, they’re going to bring a level of security and convince to you and your home that you’re going to have to experience to completely appreciate. And again, Kwikset will introduce remote functionality to their Kevo lock once the Bluetooth Gateway is launched this summer, and that will give you the ability to have real-time notifications of when the lock is accessed. As the launch gets closer and I get more information, I’ll definitely share what I find out with you.

I know what you’re thinking … who would have thought that door locks could be so cool? Kwikset and its partners have taken something most people don’t think too much about (unless they need to replace it for some reason) and given you a reason to completely rethink how you manage your home. I want to thank them for inviting me to the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, and taking the time to see and learn about their products. I can’t wait to see what they have coming up next …

Talk to you soon!
